Feet of clay 按字面解釋“泥巴做的腳”，這個意思的確令人費(fèi)解，其實(shí)它的確切解釋應(yīng)該是“內(nèi)在缺陷、致命的弱點(diǎn)(a hidden weakness, usually of morals or principles)”，尤其指令人景仰的一些大人物的內(nèi)在缺點(diǎn)，例如: "He was disillusioned to find that even Lincoln had feet of clay."
