Grammar: Adverbs
[ 2008-09-17 10:18 ]

Question: I know that also and too have the same meaning, but what is the difference?

Grammar: Adverbs

Both also and too are adverbs, but they can be found in different places in a sentence:

? Also is used before the main verb. It can also be found at the beginning of sentences in informal writing and speech.

o Example: I have been to France. I have also been to Spain.

? Too is often found at the end of sentences, and it cannot be used at the start of a sentence.

o Example: I have been to France. I have been to Spain, too.

o Note: Too is commonly used to modify adjectives, though the meaning of this too is different from also. Example: Spain is too hot.
