The Shaanxi Archeological Institute in northwest China announced over the weekend that mausoleums believed to belong to the Xia Dynasty were found in Laoniupo Site in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province.

 The Laoniupo Site, covering a total area of more than 2 million square meters, is a large scale historical compound dating back to the Shang Dynasty some 3000 years ago.

The Laoniupo Site, covering a total area of more than 2 million square meters, is a large scale historical compound dating back to the Shang Dynasty some 3000 years ago. There are three mausoleums unearthed in the area that are believed to have been created in the Xia Dynasty. Ritual sacrifices along with human bones and animal remains were found in the tombs.

Experts say the archeological finds in Laoniupo Site indicate the most western geographical extension of the Xia Dynasty.
