Chinese justice minister meets with UN drugs and crime official

China's minister of justice, Wu Aiying, who was at the head of a delegation to the 13th United Nations Conference on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in the city of Doha, capital of Qatar, also took time out to meet with Yury Fedotov, the executive director of the United Nations Office on drugs and crime, on April 13, to discuss views on combating transnational crime.

Wu said she believes that transnational crime is an urgent matter internationally, and that countries need to increase cooperation and that the Chinese government has always considered international cooperation in crime prevention and criminal justice very important, and will increase cooperation with the UN office on drugs and crime. She went on to say that China will cooperate with other countries in cases of extradition, asset recovery, cross-border investigations and evidence collection, and do its part to contribute to prevention and control of international crime.

Fedotov thanked China for its support for the UN office and said they appreciate China's achievements crime prevention and criminal justice and that he hopes there will be more exchanges and cooperation between China and the UN with fruitful results.

That same day, Wu met the Italy's justice minister to discuss cooperation in justice and the law.
