Pingtan will enhance cooperation between customs and the inspection and quarantine authorities in future, in order to provide more convenience in customs clearance, according to Zhi Yirong, director of the Fujian provincial Exit-Entry Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.

Zhi made the remark during an Aug 11 inspection of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, and discussed matters concerning building an inspection and quarantine center, establishing the bureau’s branch in Pingtan and how to further facilitate customs procedures.

The provincial entry-exit inspection and quarantine authority has been supportive of Pingtan’s development over the past few years with many favorable policies, which have been instrumental in the opening up of Pingtan and of its service facilitation, said Li Dejin, director of PCPZ’s administrative committee.

After the Pingtan Closure, which refers to an integrated customs supervision and management system, Pingtan hopes that the bureau can begin a series of training sessions on policies and inspection techniques locally, exploring innovations in customs clearance and help increasing communication with Taiwan’s counterparts, he added.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision has been attaching importance to Pingtan’s development. The Fujian provincial Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has recently issued some preferential policies boosting the Taiwan Commodity Market in Pingtan. In the next phase, the bureau will map out a detailed plan of pushing customs clearance procedures in Pingtan, according to Zhi.
