China tightens supervision ahead of national exam
( Xinhua )
Updated: 2013-06-03

BEIJING - China's education authorities have adopted a series of measures to fight against cheating and test fraud ahead of the national college entrance exam.

Measures include providing telephone numbers for complaints, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said in a statement on Sunday.

The statement said the ministry has also organized two teams to inspect the preparation work in China's provinces of Zhejiang, Fujian and Guizhou.

Meanwhile, another fifteen teams, consisting of officials from the MOE, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, have conducted nationwide checks on the security and organization work, according to the statement.

The ministry has also required all staff involved in the exam to be trained on managerial regulations before they take up their posts.

In a circular released last week, the MOE urged education authorities across the country to strengthen supervision and prevent serious cases like the theft of exam papers during printing and delivery phases.

The MOE warned that those found in violation of relevant rules and regulations throughout the exam process will receive harsh punishments.

This year's exam will take place on Friday and Saturday, according to the MOE.
