A DVD of the documentary Taihe Wudang, featuring both a TV and a film version, was recently released by the Central Xinying Audiovisual Press, wudangshan.gov.cn reported.

The TV version involves two episodes, and the film version is divided into four parts, each lasting 90 minutes.

The documentary was co-produced last year by the Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio, the management committee of Wudang Mountains Tourism and Economy Special Region and the Tai Chi Lake Group.

It focuses on Taoism, the history and scenery of Wudang Mountains and also features a rock'n' roll singer performing in the Golden Hall, visitors cycling around the mountains and teenagers performing parkour.

The documentary, with an investment of nearly 1 million yuan ($164,400), was broadcast on CCTV last October to mark the 600th anniversary of the construction of the ancient Taoist building complex on Wudang Mountains.

In 1412, the Yongle Emperor of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) launched two national projects, constructing the Forbidden City in North China and the complex at Wudang Mountains in the South.

Taihe Wudang is China's third major documentary on the scenery and Taoist heritage of Wudang, following two others,Wendao Wudang and Taiji Wudang.
