SEPCO III Co -- a subsidiary of POWERCHINA -- signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the planned Luxor Power Plant in Egypt on Nov 24, with ACWA Power, the Saudi Arabian utility developer, through an online signing ceremony.

After the completion of the project, it will provide high-efficiency power to central and southern Egypt and meet the future power growth needs of the Luxor region in the country.

The signing of the project had increased SEPCO III Co's market share in Egypt, demonstrated the company's expertise in the Middle East and Africa and stabilized its leading position in the international power station EPC market.

To date, SEPCO III Co has built the Banha Combined Cycle Power Plant and the Giza North Power Plant in Egypt.

The Banha Combined Cycle Power Plant is located 50 kilometers north of Cairo. The design, materials and quality of the power station all comply with American standards.

On Jan 23, 2014, two units of the power station officially began commercial operation.

The Giza North Power Plant was the largest power plant project under construction in Egypt at that time. On May 31, 2014, it started commercial operations.
