The second international academic seminar on Buddhist beliefs drew to a close in Mount Wutai on July 22, with experts agreeing to create an international exchange platform for Buddhism at the scenic spot.

Distinguished Buddhism experts from China and overseas agreed that every week, the institute will employ different professors to give lessons and cultivate specialized talents.

During the four-day event, scholars gathered together to discuss the characteristics of Mount Wutai in terms of its diverse culture and international influence.

Master Sheng Kai from the department of philosophy at Tsinghua University concluded that the Mount Wutai international seminar on Buddhism beliefs has provided a platform to exchange academic information, share resources and enhance friendship.

At the closing ceremony, vice-director of China's Buddhist Association Master Miao Jiang and Professor Zhang Wenliang from Institute of Philosophy at Renmin University of China, jointly inaugurated a teaching and learning practice base for the school's religious studies.

At present, the Mount Wutai international Buddhist institute has cooperated with around 30 Chinese Buddhism institutions from world-famous universities to popularize Chinese Buddhism around the world.

Wutai is the holiest of China's four Buddhist mountains and is considered one of five holiest Buddhist sites in the world. It has preserved a great deal of classical Buddhist architecture, combining Buddhist culture with the natural landscape.
