With Spring Festival round the corner, the uppermost thought in the minds of people who work in distant cities is to travel back home for family reunion. This Spring Festival travel season is expected to see people making an estimated 3.6 billion trips.

Compared with the lucky ones who have won the "battle" of getting a train ticket back home through the official online booking system or authorized agencies, migrant workers who cannot afford to travel by air or take long-distance buses back home have chosen motorcycles as a helpless but affordable mode of transport.

When people travel back home, especially to celebrate the once-in-a-year family reunion, they should pay the greatest attention to safety. Over the past five years, the number of accidents during the Spring Festival travel season has reached more than 96,000, with as many as 28,000 casualties.

Since Spring Festival is associated with the reunion of millions of families, the railways and other related transport systems should improve their coordination and strengthen their safety mechanisms. And to make the journeys safe, passengers should cooperate with safety management officials.
