College graduate lost in dim job market

Xiao Lingling, a senior college student, fixes her hair before heading to a job fair in Fuyang, East China's Anhui province, March 15, 2014. Xiao, a computer engineering major, is set to get her degree from Fuyang Teachers' College in June. Xiao is one of the 7.27 million fresh graduates who will seek their luck in the already tough job market, making this year a worse job season. Xiao, like many graduates, is becoming frustrated as reality increasingly dampers her hope to land an entry-level job in Hefei, the provincial capital, that pays 2,000 yuan monthly. What makes it harder for Xiao is that she is reluctantly putting the next step in her academic career on hold after she failed the admission test for graduate school. Struggling over the two options – job and graduate school, Xiao found a way in between – preparing for next year's graduate school admission exam while continuing her job-seeking odyssey.
