The Sky Curtain Pulpit, a warm-hearted activity hosted by social elites to help rural students, ended successfully on Oct 12 in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province.

During the three-day pulpit, social elites including Feng Lun, chairman of Wantong Holding; Deng Fei, a free lunch promoter; Fan Jianchuan, director of Jianchuan Museum; Fan Yijin, dean of the journalism and communication college of Jinan University; Liu Tong, vice-president of Enlight Media's information division; Wu Jiyan, deputy director of the Beijing Hunan Commerce of Chamber; and Wang Tianding, dean of the journalism and communication college of Xi'an Foreign Language University, gave lectures to students in 11 schools in Xi'an and Xianyang city.

Sponsored by Elite magazine of South Newspaper Media Group and Shaanxi Xixian New Area, the activity aimed to send dreams and hopes to rural high school and college students, providing books for their study.

According to statistics provided by the Ministry of Education in 2011, there were 34,480 rural high schools with some 17 million students who live alone in rural areas and needed physical and psychological care as their parents worked as migrant workers in other provinces.
