Digital gallery brings relics to life again

The Palace Museum launched a new digital gallery recently, set up by Wincomn in E-town.

Due to the special conditions for preserving some relics, visitors had little chance to appreciate the original works. Chinese paintings and calligraphy need to be kept with good care for three years between exhibitions, according to Shan Jixiang, president of the Palace Museum.

Digital technology can now help us make up for the defects. With high-definition videos, professional information, rich media content, and interactive design, the audience can enjoy and study the classics at any time they want.

The digital scroll adopts three Christie WU14K-M HD projectors to create an 8mx2m screen. The first display was the painting “Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival”, including more than 40 details of the painting through interaction with the guide.

Wincomn is the agent of Christie projectors in China, and provides world leading engineering projecting equipment. In the digital gallery, Wincomn cooperated with partners to bring the cultural relics to life again.
