KATHMANDU -- Nepali police have arrested three top Tibetan separatist leaders, charging that their anti-China activities have threatened Nepali security.

Police said they have violated the country's one-China policy and threatened public security, The Kathmandu Post reported on Saturday.

According to the police, Kelsang Chung, director of the "Tibetan Refugee Reception Center" in Kathmandu, and Ngawang Sangmo and Tashi Dolma, senior leaders of the "Regional Tibetan Women's Association," were arrested under the direction of district police chief.

The three Tibetan separatists were detained on Thursday night. Currently, they are kept in Dillibazar and Central jails, police said.

Chief of Metropolitan Police Range Office Sarbendra Khanal said Tibetan separatists were arrested under Public Security Act and could be held in custody for 90 days.

Nepali police Thursday detained about 700 Tibetan separatists who disturbed traffic and disrupted the work of the Chinese embassy in anti-China activities in Kathmandu.
