THE HAGUE -?As of Tuesday, Dutch senators will read their meeting documents on their iPads, with the Dutch government being the first in Europe to prepare meetings digitally, the news portal Nu.nl reported Tuesday.

The senators will be able to read meeting documents with a specially designed application.

Until now, policy documents were always delivered to the senators' homes by mail, but with the introduction of the iPad, this costly service will become unnecessary.

The introduction of the iPad will cost the state 150,000 euros. But Senate Secretary-General Geert Jan Hamilton is optimistic about the investment. "Within one year, this investment will pay itself back," Hamilton said.
