Authorities in Beijing and neighboring Hebei province are intensifying disaster recovery efforts following the recent torrential rains, while keeping emergency flood-control measures in place in some areas to safeguard people's lives.

In Miyun district, one of the hardest-hit areas of Beijing, authorities are using technical data, including imaging, to assess geological hazards and guide reconstruction plans. Work to repair, reinforce, and resettle damaged homes is underway, CCTV reported.

Neighboring Hebei is also accelerating post-disaster reconstruction work. With access roads in mountainous regions now reopened, heavy machinery has been deployed to support reconstruction in rural villages. Cleanup operations, including dredging, are advancing in severely affected areas such as Luanping county in Chengde, according to provincial authorities.

Agricultural recovery is a particular priority in Zhangjiakou and Baoding, where the provincial agricultural department has sent more than 5,000 metric tons of customised fertilizer and other supplies to waterlogged fields. Experts are offering on-site guidance to help restore crops and soil moisture in a bid to limit losses.

Facing renewed weather threats, Beijing upgraded its rainstorm warning on Monday to the red level, the highest in the four-tiered system, activating a top-tier emergency flood response. The red alert was removed on Tuesday morning, according to the Beijing Meteorological Service.

Beijing has already relocated over 76,000 residents from vulnerable areas, while in Hebei, 32,000 people have been safely moved as of Monday, according to the CCTV report.

On Tuesday, many places throughout Hebei province issued alerts of different levels for rain, including Nanpi county in Cangzhou, which issued a heavy rain red alert at 2:17 pm, expecting that the area would be affected by heavy rain from the afternoon to evening.
