Collaboration with Uzbekistan yields outcomes

President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday that China supports Uzbekistan in safeguarding its sovereignty, security and development interests, vowing to strengthen cooperation in a wide range of fields, including joint scientific research and green energy.

He made the remarks during a meeting in Beijing with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Xi said that China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to accelerate the alignment of development strategies and advance the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project.

Both sides should leverage the China-Uzbekistan law enforcement and security cooperation mechanism to jointly combat the "three evil forces" of terrorism, extremism and separatism, and to address security risks and challenges, he said.

Xi called on the two countries to firmly uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core, practice true multilateralism, jointly implement the Global Governance Initiative, defend the outcomes of the victory in World War II and safeguard the hard-won peace and stability.

Mirziyoyev said that Uzbekistan appreciates China's long-term support for its economic and social development, as well as the improvement of people's livelihoods.

He added that Uzbekistan is willing to work with China to jointly implement the GGI and promote the global order toward a more just and equitable direction.
